Our Story

Fragile Beginnings was started as a way to give back and support NICU families, as we once found ourselves grateful for the love and care received when our daughter, Blakely, was born at 26 weeks gestation.

Having been blind-sighted with preterm labor from a potential placental abruption, our daughter entered the world weighing just 1035 grams. With this unexpected, early arrival, our introduction to parenthood was focused solely on her fight for survival.  As with any extended NICU stay, her journey was full of ups and downs but we were able to take Blakely home after 98 days in the NICU, which was shortly after her due date. Challenges of a micropreemie do not end after the NICU but we have a great support team to help along this journey at home as well.

After having a daughter born prematurely and experiencing firsthand the unique struggles of a preemie, we want to give back and provide opportunities that can bring some brightness to the tough days in the NICU. This is a way to give back for all the love and support we received and help continuously spread that generosity and gratitude to others. We officially started Fragile Beginnings on the day Blakely was discharged from the NICU.

With love,

Megan and Sam, founders of Fragile Beginnings
